Once you have received a chiropractic evaluation from Dr. Sarah you are eligible to receive our in-office Body Work Therapy. Our Body Work is typically focused on releasing restrictions found within the myofascial network. Fascia is a tough connective tissue which spreads throughout the body in a 3-dimensional web from head to toe. When we experience physical and/or emotional trauma your fascia will tighten in a protective response. When this happens fascia loses its pliability, becomes restricted and is a source of tension found throughout the body. Over time this can lead to poor muscular biomechanics, altered structural alignment and decreased strength, endurance, and motor coordination. The restoration of length and health to the myofascial tissue can help to take pressure off the pain sensitive areas such as nerves and blood vessels as well as restoring alignment and mobility to joints. Our approach to releasing fascial restrictions can be found in 1 of 2 methods: Manual Myofascial Release and Myofascial Blading.
Manual Myofascial Release is a hands-on soft tissue technique that facilitates a stretch by using a soft pressure applied to various areas on the body where restricted fascia is found. This can offer soft tissue releases that can be felt all throughout the body. This application will be performed in a private room and is applied to bare skin.
Myofascial Blading is performed with the assistance of a soft tissue tool called a blade on a specific area of the body and may be accompanied by some hands-on massage to the muscles. Blading can be performed through the clothing or on bare skin in a private room.
Some Benefits Include:
⦁ Decreased Muscular Imbalances - helps muscles to relax, as well as helping to remove restrictions when performing motions and exercises.
⦁ Improved Joint Range of Motion
⦁ Relieved Muscle Soreness and Joint Stress – helps speed up recovery due to increased blood circulation.
⦁ Improved Neuromuscular Efficiency – helps the muscles with oxygenation due to increased blood flow.
⦁ Relaxes Muscles
⦁ Improves Optimal Length-Tension Relationships – helps to lengthen muscles and break up adhesions such as scar tissue.
Other Soft Tissue Therapies offered are:
Sinus Drains: Our sinus drains can help to relieve pressure and drain mucus from the sinus cavities. This therapy is performed by hands on massage and takes 10 minutes to complete. This therapy is a great way to help alleviate sinus congestion during high allergy seasons as well as during cold and flu season.
